More Raccoon Activity
More raccoon activity this season shows a mamma had pups in a chimney. After we performed our eviction services we were able to install a chimney cap to prevent more raccoons from entering.

Raccoon season is upon us. Look at the damage one did on this Greensburg, PA home! No wonder they have a reputation for being bandits. It’s not just their looks they get that nickname for, it is their behavior too! These raccoons removed the siding to gain access to a wall cavity.
This Greensburg home had raccoons living in the attic space. With our methods, we were able to get the family of coons to leave the first night and NOT return.
Most of the time, a person thinks that they if they call a pest/wildlife control company, the critters will be euthanized. Not the case with Tall Timber Wildlife Services. If at all possible, Tall Timber tries to keep them in the area that they are familiar with but not becoming an issue.
In this video, the female adult raccoon is trying to coax the kit to come down the wall by pulling on it. Climbing things is a new activity for kits and sometimes they need some motherly influence.
We had a customer in Jeannette, PA call us this past weekend as there was a raccoon terrorizing his roof. Within 24 hours the raccoon was captured and removed. The house is now set up for monitoring.
You can see in the attic photo above, the raccoon ripped up the insulation. Raccoons will also defecate in the attic. Not only will this cause increased energy bills, it will cause odor and sanitary issues as well.
Using thermal imaging, we needed to find the location of the nest. If the raccoon shows to have kits at the time of removal, then we will need to gain access to them in order to remove them as well.
This is the time of year when raccoons begin having their young in attics and chimneys. In the correct scenario, we offer harassment to cause the female to take her kits and leave. The time of year and the age of the kits are important when performing this method. Last year, Tall Timber Wildlife Services had a 100% success rate with our harassment program.
The actual hole that the raccoon created in the roof is shown below.
We couldn’t see them, but we knew they were in there! This mamma raccoon and her kits were hiding in a Jeanette, PA home’s walls. Thanks to Tall Timber Wildlife and their trusty thermal imaging camera, they were found and successfully evicted with no harm to either mamma nor the kits.
The client decided that they could make necessary repairs to the entry point without the help of Tall Timber Wildlife. Here to serve, Tall Timber never minds accommodating a client’s demands. We are always glad to help in any way we can.
Before calling Tall Timber Wildlife Service, our client chased a raccoon off of this Jeannette roof. Apparently, the raccoon wanted to seek revenge by ripping off these shingles before starting to run! Moral of the story be: call Tall Timber Wildlife Service first! We can handle these situations with little to no damage to your assets nor the animals.
Now is the time that mama raccoons are searching for a place to give birth to their kits. Often times they choose an attic or chimney for their home. Hearing loud noises, scratching, screaming and chattering is a sign that this has taken place.
In order to avoid trapping methods, Tall Timber Wildlife Service had a near perfect success rate in 2021 of convincing the mother raccoon to remove her kits on her own terms. When an animal is convinced to leave on their own, it is a win for both home owner and creature.
If left to live in your home, raccoons can bring various diseases such as, parasites and bugs. Raccoons with also destroy insulation, wiring, drywall, etc…
Shown here are young kits that were given birth in a chimney.
Kits are adorable but you do not want them living with you in your home!
