We had a customer in Jeannette, PA call us this past weekend as there was a raccoon terrorizing his roof. Within 24 hours the raccoon was captured and removed. The house is now set up for monitoring.
You can see in the attic photo above, the raccoon ripped up the insulation. Raccoons will also defecate in the attic. Not only will this cause increased energy bills, it will cause odor and sanitary issues as well.
Using thermal imaging, we needed to find the location of the nest. If the raccoon shows to have kits at the time of removal, then we will need to gain access to them in order to remove them as well.
This is the time of year when raccoons begin having their young in attics and chimneys. In the correct scenario, we offer harassment to cause the female to take her kits and leave. The time of year and the age of the kits are important when performing this method. Last year, Tall Timber Wildlife Services had a 100% success rate with our harassment program.
